Here are a few DIY storage ideas that may make life in the\n21st century a little easier\u2014or at least a little less cluttered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bedroom DIY Storage Ideas<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

For\nthe price of a package of shower rings and a hanger, you could potentially free\nup an entire drawer if you slip the shower rings over the bottom rung of a\nhanger and use it to store your scarves. Mount it to the back of your closet\ndoor and your scarves will be accessible and won\u2019t get wrinkled.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A\nwooden hanger can become an ideal storage device for jewelry, especially\nnecklaces and dangly earrings. Just add eye screws at small, even intervals and\nhook them through the eye screws.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Under-bed\nstorage is always a great idea. While you can buy beds that come with drawers\nunderneath, you can also create your own. Use shallow dresser drawers to which\nyou\u2019ve added wheels and you\u2019ll be able to slide them under the bed. The wheels\nwill make them easier to access when the summer turns to fall and you suddenly\nneed to grab a sweater but aren\u2019t yet ready to do the summer\/winter clothing\ntransfer. They\u2019ll also make cleaning under the bed a lot easier, too.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Little\nwooden spice racks<\/a> make both perfect displays and\nstorage containers for perfume bottles, nail polish, or other cosmetics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bathroom DIY Storage Ideas<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Unless\nyou have one for every single family member, bathrooms can be storage\nnightmares. There are only four corners to a bathtub, and those corners fill up\nfast when everyone in the family likes to use a different kind of shampoo. Hang\nfruit baskets from your shower rod and store shampoos, conditioners, nail\nbrushes, loofahs, and body sponges in the baskets. They\u2019re also a great place\nto store small bath toys.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pedestal\nsinks have been in vogue for a while now, and for good reason: their clean,\nelegant lines make modern sinks the bathroom focal point and they introduce a\nfeeling of space to what\u2019s usually the smallest room in a house. That said,\neveryone who\u2019s bought a house with one or replaced an old vanity with a\npedestal sink has been faced with the dilemma of where to store their bathroom\ncleaning products. The solution may be to create a shallow, narrow cupboard\nbetween the joists in your bathroom walls. Maybe even two, one on either side\nof the sink.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A\nlarge wine rack mounted on a bathroom wall makes for idea towel storage. You\ncan build your own or buy one. Or you can mount a series of baskets to the wall\nand store towels, face cloths, and small appliances like hair dryers, curling\nirons, beard trimmers and electric razors in the baskets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Don\u2019t\nforget to use the space above your\ntoilet<\/a>\nand above your towel racks. Install floating shelves and use glass jars to\nstore cotton swabs, facial wipes, makeup remover pads, hair elastics and bobby\npins or hair clips. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Craft Room and Home Office Storage\nIdeas<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

An\nold muffin tin will fit nicely in even the shallowest desk drawer, and it\nautomatically gives you a dozen small compartments to store paper clips, push\npins, elastics, and USB drives. If the drawer is wide enough, add a kitchen\ncutlery tray and you\u2019ve got storage for pens, markers, scissors, rolls of tape,\nand charger cords.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Revolving\ncountertop spice racks with clear glass bottles are perfect for small craft\nsupplies like pins, needles, buttons, beads, and sequins. If your craft room\nhas a closet, take the door off and add more shelving. You can still use the\ncurtain rod and pants or skirt hangers to hang folded fabric or scrapbooking\nsupplies. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pick\nup an old dresser at a flea market, paint it with chalk paint, and store\ncrafting tools and supplies in the drawers. Dividers are always a good idea.\nYou can buy them or make your own out of cardboard covered in wallpaper. Or you\ncould invest in some more dollar store kitchen cutlery trays. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

If\nyour closet has a bifold door, don\u2019t throw it out or store it in the garage.\nMount it to the wall and buy some decorative hooks so you can hang scissors and\nother tools or rolls of ribbon from the hooks. There\u2019s a reason those home\nworkshop pegboards with tools outlined became so popular: they work. Not only\ncan you see where your tools are at any given time, there\u2019s also no doubt where\nthey belong.\n\nOnce you\u2019ve analyzed\nthe space available to you and the possessions you need to store, you\u2019re well\non your way to creating a place for everything.
